The 3D Secure authentication is an additional fraud prevention scheme. After you enter your credit card details on a payment page, a new window will appear, requesting for your personal security code. Your financial institution will authenticate the transaction within seconds, as well as confirm that you are the individual making the purchase. Usually it means that your bank sends you an SMS with a one-time password which is entered in order to confirm your transaction.
